Welcome to the first post on my blog! My name is Melissa Graham and I am going to Uganda for 10 months next year. I am taking a year off from my Veterinary studies at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga Australia, to learn as much as I can about the life as a missionary. To learn from the Reeds about ethnoveterinary medicine and bible storytelling and to learn from the tribe about how they see life and how they treat the things most important to them, their cattle, with medicine not from the local chemist or drug store but from the ground, the trees and plants.
This trip is not only about learning African Veterinary medicine and how this can be used to help the Karamajong people by treating their livelihood aka cattle, but about the ministy the Reeds have been blessed with to use these skills to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the good news that God in his love wants his children to be told! By grace all who believe in the Son of our creator God and calls on His name, has nothing to fear, will not be put to shame, will one day suffer no more but spend eternity with him (Rom 10:9-15).
